Who Am I To Judge

a Beautiful Humans film produced for December 2024

Retaining an Actor to Meet Our Visual Needs

The Context and Objectives

Each month, for Beautiful Humans, we produce a film as part of the movement and for our members. This was our final film where we only had a total of ninety minutes to work with our guest for everything from prep to interviewing to b-roll filming. Navan’s lessons we wanted to highlight left a more somber mood. We loved this, but how would we tell it visually? We simply didn’t have what we needed to produce a visually moving film.

The Film

Outcomes and Impact

Everyone loved the film; feedback was overwhelmingly positive. From a visual standpoint, we reached out to a friend in the area who we thought would make a good “Navan” for nighttime driving scenes. It worked out seemlessly.

Notes as a Filmmaker on our Journey

We had fun doing the nighttime filming. It was tricky given it ended up being misty / slightly raining and we hadn’t filmed at night before. We love film because of how we get to continually push ourselves to try new things and get better and better. We both love playing with light in our shots, and this gave us the perfect space to play.
