Telling an Emotional Story with a Toy Set

This was a Saturday afternoon project. We love exploring and playing with our skills. Given that, so far, all of our films are told strictly through the interview content and our voices are never in them, we are unable to explore other creative approaches to stories. This little video was made after spending hours building the set and then wanting to highlight the mechanical beauty of this toy.

Well, we had fun! So it was an absolute success! Further, we shared it with some folk and got a range of feedback, including one person saying they weren’t ready for such an emotional video and they teared up.

This was a fairly low-time and low-effort editing project. We had fun exploring the writing for the voiceover.

The above comment about someone sharing that they didn’t expect to get emotional highlights how we bring thoughtful emotional storytelling to anything, even if it’s just a toy.
