Living Unapologetically

a Beautiful Humans film produced for November 2024

Tailoring Our Visual Storytelling to the Story Itself

The Context and Objectives

Each month, with Beautiful Humans, we seek to produce a film that viewers can gain a wide range of insights from watching. We’re also seeking to tell the guest’s story in ways it’s not been told elsewhere.

Our first film’s content was more philosophically oriented and lent itself to visual storytelling with nature. Here, we needed to tell a story that was regularly referencing specific events in time.

The Film

Outcomes and Impact

We received some really powerful feedback from folk about how they were sharing this with their daughters and how inspiring Jenn’s story was. Given she hadn’t previously talked publicly about some of these pieces, we were honored to share them in a way that everyone could glean lessons.

Notes as a Filmmaker on our Journey

Coming up with a path for visual storytelling is tricky. We have to figure out what the visual theme is and what story the visuals need to support. We came up with the idea of doing something more like a “scrapbook” to point to periods in Jenn’s life. We had a number of technical issues with the rendering processes and this took far more attempts than normal to get the finished product working as we intended.
